Are you wearing your helmet?

Women of God – are you wearing your uniform? Ephesians 6:14-15 tells us about the uniform that we should be wearing every day. There’s the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, and the shoes of the gospel of peace. We needed to be grounded daily in God’s Word – which is truth. We need to put on Christ’s righteousness, which He gives us freely. We are righteous because He is righteous. Finally, we need to put on the shoes of peace, His peace. And peace is activated by thankfulness. So, every day, dig into the Word, find out who you are in Christ, and be thankful.

Women – there’s more to the armor than just the uniform. God gives us things to take up before going into battle. We can take up the shield of faith. This shield deflects the arrows of the enemy – the lies he throws at us, the temptations he bombards us with, the whispers of doubt. Hold up your shield of faith. Know what you believe. Memorize scripture, so that you are ready to hold it up, knowing that what God says is true. He is faithful. He always keeps His promises. Use you faith to combat the enemy Satan. Hold it up, and watch the arrows bounce off.

Not only do you have a shield to protect you, you also have a helmet. A helmet protects your head, protects your brain and you brain is what controls your whole body – movement, thoughts, organs, life. God gives you the helmet of salvation. And you may wonder – how does salvation protect me now? Isn’t that only for the future, when I die? Salvation is for the future – if you accept God’s gift of salvation you will live with Him forever. But salvation is much more than that. as we think about the inheritance that comes with the gift – we become a child of God – we start to live in a new way. We start to live as a child of God. We enjoy the benefits now that He gives us – peace love, joy,  knowledge that we are loved, knowledge that He knows us intimately, has planned our days and work for us to do that He’s equipped us to do, and access to His knowledge and presence through the Holy Spirit. And there’s so much more. Ephesians 1:3 says that He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing. The helmet of salvation protects our mind, which directs our thoughts and our actions.

I pray, as Paul did in Ephesians 1:18-19 that “the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints (you), and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.” If you’ve confessed that you’re a sinner and accepted Jesus as Lord of your life, than you are His. Bask in the warmth and wonder of that. Read I Corinthians 6:19, 20. read Colossians 3:12. Read Jeremiah 31:3. Read His Word, and know that He’s talking to you! You are loved. You are righteous in His eyes through Christ. You have an inheritance in Him. Put on your helmet!
